They don't have any way to store the Chinese Jump Ropes. I'll get another copy to send to my niece's school with several more Chinese Jump Ropes, it'll be great for gym class or recess. One problem. You'll have to keep track of them separately. They say they have "all the traditional games" - well, it's an oral tradition, what they HAVE are games traditional to a particular school in San Francisco where they got ideas. Coming from NYC, the games I know are entirely different, but that's okay - I wanted more options than the few games I remember clearly from my childhood :)They have several different ideas in here, and they neatly name the moves so you can easily think out and make up your own.
I gave it four stars since it was a little pricey. I purchased this book with the 2 jumpropes and it was great. I didn't really need the games, I could have just printed them off of the internet, although the book is nice and sturdy and will hold up well on the playground. I loved Chinese Jumprope as a kid and wanted my daughter to try it too. Unfortunately, Chinese Jumpropes are really hard to find.
Highly recommend this book. There are several versions of the game, and they were playing them all. I bought this for my nieces, ages 9 and 6. The book was very easy to understand, and the 9 year old had them both playing in minutes.
She really enjoys following the directions to new games that are shown in the book. My 6-yr old daughter started playing at school - the games have changed since I played as a kid - and she was excited to have one of her own.
I want to play with her; it will surely bring back memories of childhood. These books by Klutz are the best ever. I got this for an 8-year girl and she loved it.
